1. General Information

1.1 What are the forestry services included in the G2C System?

➢ There are two services under the G2C system: o Issuance of permit for rural timber; and o Issuance of permit for firewood, flag poles and fencing posts.

1.2 Where can I apply for the forestry services?

➢ You can apply for the forestry services from any community center/ Divisional forest office/Park Office/Range office with the duly endorsed subsidized timber for rural use form by the Gup. The permit for rural timber will also be issued by the Community Centers/ Divisional forest office/Park Office/Range office.

1.3 When is the forestry service available?

➢ The forestry service is available only from October – March.

2. Eligibility Criteria 2.1 Who is eligible to apply for rural timber?

➢ To be eligible to apply for rural timber, you will have to be the head of the household (gung) and your name has to be registered in the thram where you intend to construct the house.

2.2 What are the other conditions for eligibility of rural timber?

➢ The other conditions for eligibility of rural timber are:

o The timber requirement is for bonafide rural use

o The rural house to be constructed with subsidized timber is for the personal dwelling of the applicant and his family; and

o The land on which the rural house is to be constructed is inherited and not purchased by the applicant.

o Only one permit is allowed per gung once in 25 years.

3. Application Procedure

3.1 What is the procedure for application of the forestry services?

➢ The procedure for application for the forestry services are:

o Submit the duly completed application form to the Gup's Office

o Submit the application endorsed by the Gup to the Community Center

o The Community Center operator shall apply for the permit on behalf of the applicant to the respective Chief Forest Office/Park Manager. In places without Community Centers, the Gup will forward directly to the Chief Forest Office/Park Manager

o The approval shall be forwarded online to the Community Center upon completion of verification of documents.

3.2 What are the document requirement for rural timber permit?

➢ The document requirement for rural timber permit are:

o Duly filled forms

o Lag thram

o Citizenship Identity Card Copy

o Construction approval for construction of concrete building only

3.3 Where can I collect the permit for the rural timber permit?

➢ You can collect the permit from the Community Center after completion of all procedures. In places where there are no community centers, you can collect the permit directly from the Range Office.

4. Other important information

4.1 What is the validity of the permit for rural timber permit?

➢ The Permit for Rural Timber is valid for 2 years for new construction and 18 month for repair/renovation/extension.

4.2 What is the fee for the permit for rural timber permit?

➢ The fee will be charged at the prevailing rate based on the size, type, class and quantity of timber.

4.3 What is the turn around time issuance of permit for rural timber?

➢ The turnaround time for issuance of permit for rural timber is 21 days from the day of submission of application to the Gup's Office.

4.4 What is the turn around time issuance of permit for firewood, flag pole?

➢ The turnaround time for issuance of permit for firewood, flag pole is … days.
